Math, should we fall under it?

Hi there! Math, as we all know, acts like a blockade. Imagine in a 100-mile marathon we are running with the finish line just a meter away then suddenly something drops from the sky, math homework's and stuff , blocking our way. We don't want that to happen, we don't want Math to stop us from our success, more importantly, what I want and what we all want is to conquer Math and somehow make it part of our team.

Enough of that intro, this is Math anyways, we don't need that literary intro or whatever you call it! A lot of students, and when I say a lot that is a lot, find Math to be difficult. It is in many aspects, from just seeing the numbers to not understanding what the problem is asking, or to that list of area and volume formula that you think would be forgetting about during the exam - mental block as we say. But if we break Math into its simplest form, by breaking it down to the very primary element composing it, it is simply just numbers, concept, formula, understanding and count that calculator skill in.

I want you to remember that I will be sharing my experience and that this may help you to have a better view at Math rather than just that dull image you think of every time you hear Math, numbers or problem solving..... Math is not easy for me, though it is feasible. And if you are the kind that studies 5 hours straight for that Math exam tomorrow, you better stop! Read what I have to say before moving on with that strenuous review you're having.

Every time I encounter difficult topics in Math, I try to remain calm, as others would react like "OMG, I think I'm gonna fail". No, don't do it. First I try to determine what part of the topic I don't understand. (Now this is very important.) Is it the calculation or the understanding of the problem. Afterwards if I found out that I am having difficulties in analysing the problem, I would search the internet (your best friend for math, I suppose). Read a lot of articles on that topic or even look it up onYouTube, for example, there are many math channels with regards education and in particular, Math. Afterwards, try to analyse the problem again to see if you have a better understanding, if not, I recommend group studies with your friends and ask them politely to explain it to you. If it is in the calculation, it may be a bit hard for me to explain. I usually experiment with formulas if I get lost with the method of calculation that is being taught. For this, I recommend you clarify with your professors or teachers as this would be little hard to be dependent on the internet. Besides, what could be a better substitute than directly asking your instructor. As many of you would say, this article is too broad and that it won't even help you in your next Math examination. Remember, Math is not too objective, unlike when you just memorise a poem and you'd be good for your English recitation.  So this single blog post would actually not help you to become very efficient like just in a block of an eye. It is a continuous process. Though I do hope this can be your serve as a guide on how to attempt that progress you are aiming to make.

I'll be posting more posts with regards the attack I make in tackling difficult subjects in Math. I hope you follow me on Google+, until then, Peace!
